How to install the free EnvVault macOS app. Source code and build steps are not part of the public app distribution.

Requirements

macOS.
The EnvVault app download.

Install the app

Download the free EnvVault macOS app from the official distribution location.
Open the downloaded disk image or app archive.
Move EnvVault.app into the Applications folder.
Open EnvVault from Applications.
Add a local project folder from inside the app to begin importing dotenv files.

Runtime CLI setup

After installing EnvVault, open Settings in the app to install, repair, uninstall, inspect, or run doctor for the local envvault terminal command. The CLI setup is managed by the app and does not require the source code.

macOS security prompt

If the downloaded app is not notarized, macOS may ask for explicit confirmation before opening it. Follow the instructions provided with the app download.
